It’s been a while since we introduced you to a new member of our IFP family, but today we bring you brand new Adviser Personal Assistant, David Hutchinson! If you want to know more about David and his background, keep reading!
Since I was young, I have always been interested in maths and finance, choosing to study Maths, Business Studies and Economics for my A levels before going on to obtain a 2.1 B.Sc. (Hons) Business Economics and Finance degree from Loughborough University.
I had previous experience in auditing during my placement year at university, which helped me develop a wide range of skills and provided me with a great experience. However, I realised during that year that I wanted work in an industry and role where you are providing real value to clients and not simply ticking boxes to fill a legal requirement for a firm.
I have always been really interested in personal finance and investing, and I always found myself talking about it to friends and family. After networking with a few current and former professionals in the financial planning industry, it really clicked for me and I realised I wanted to work in a role where I can help others work towards and achieve their own financial goals.
When looking for a role I knew I wanted to work for a firm that still had a small family atmosphere, coming across IFP and researching more about the company I knew it was right for me. What particularly encouraged me to apply was seeing that 40% of the current workforce have come from either apprenticeship or graduate positions, and that the firm is very keen on developing its own talent in house and promoting internally.
In my spare time you will most likely find me watching sport, it is my main escape from everyday life and if I could, I would watch it all day every day. My main interests are Formula 1, football, cricket and American football, but I watch a range of other sports when they are on.
I have only been here a few days, but everyone has already been really welcoming, answering all the questions I have had and helping me to feel really at home even on the first day. I have really enjoyed my first few days here and I am looking forward to seeing what the future brings me here at IFP.
