Bucket List Ideas – By Lewis Atkinson

Bucket List – noun

“a number of experiences or achievements that a person hopes to have or accomplish during their lifetime”

Most people typically have at least one thing they want to do before they kick the bucket. Retirement is arguably the best time to achieve all those lifelong ambitions of doing the amazing things in life – that’s providing you still have the back for it (but then again, I can vouch for crippling back-ache at 25). In retirement you have all the free time you could ask for, so its perfect to start ticking things off your bucket list. What makes it better is, with the right Financial Adviser, they can ensure your hard saved funds can cater not only for your basic living expenses but also that important list. If only we knew a good, chartered firm of Financial Planners ay…

Anyway, if you’re thinking of retirement, this little article will probably be great for you, as I am going to go over some of the best bucket list ideas out there to hopefully provide some inspiration.

Bungee Jump

One for you adrenaline junkies out there. Some people enjoy bungee jumping, I can’t see why, but they do! If you want to test what you’re made of and get that heart rate going, there’s plenty of iconic bungee jumps locations to take advantage of:

  • Nevis Highwire, Queenstown, New Zealand
  • Verzasca Dam, Ticino, Switzerland
  • Bloukrans Bridge, Western Cape, South Africa

Although, I have heard the number of people who bungee jump each year goes up and down…

New Seven Wonders of the World

Visiting all 7 may be a task, but many people on their bucket list must visit at least one of these marvels. The Colosseum in Rome is the closest for you readers, but others include Machu Pichu in Peru, the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt and the Taj Mahal in India.

Take a Hot Air Balloon Ride

This one’s for all you fans of the Disney Pixar film, Up. Why not enjoy the skyline in a way like no other – from a basket attached to a balloon? Turkey has one of the world’s most iconic Hot Air Balloon locations in the world, Cappadocia. A quick internet search will show you photos of balloon-filled skies.

African Safari

I think this is my personal favourite. You always see videos on social media of people getting up close and personal with some of the world’s most amazing wild animals which lets be honest, makes you want to be there.

‘It’s coming home’

Football may or may not be coming home this summer. Regardless, going to a FIFA world cup game or major tournament would be top of most football fan’s bucket list. If football’s not your thing, there’s plenty of other major sports events that are just waiting to be attended, like the Olympics!

These ideas won’t be at the top of everyone’s list, but that just means the possibilities are endless. Whatever your list consists of, our Financial Planners can ensure your retirement plan is working for you and that your retirement is what you deserve it to be, so why not get in touch?
