Why You Should Choose an Individually Chartered Adviser

Hey, did you know we’re not your average Financial Advisers? We’re an independent Chartered firm, but we prefer the term “Planner” because we’re all about that holistic service! And guess what? 86% of our 7 advisers are individually Chartered. How cool is that?

This figure used to be a whopping 100% and we’ve only had to drop it due to bringing a new financial planner on recently. But don’t worry, we’re working hard to help them achieve their own Chartered status imminently – watch this space for the percentage going back up!

You’ve read what it means to us to be a Chartered firm (if you haven’t, check it out HERE), now we want to let you know why having so many Chartered Financial Planners makes us stand out from the crowd.

There are around 43,000 financial advisers in the UK, with just 5,000 of those accredited as Chartered Financial Planners. That’s around 12%. Now you know why we’re so happy with our current 86%!

Becoming Chartered is the individual’s way of saying they are truly committed to providing the highest quality of service and advice.

Most importantly, a higher level of qualification and experience is required to achieve Chartered status.

To provide advice in the UK via the Chartered Insurance Institute, an individual needs to pass their Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.

We look to go one further and ensure our advisers are Chartered (or are workings towards being) by achieving the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning. This is a degree level qualification and is far more application based than the Diploma – think case studies, producing financial plans for ‘clients’ etc. the sort of work we do for clients daily.

In addition, the adviser needs to have at least 5 years’ worth of industry experience to become Chartered.

We also don’t just stop there. All our Chartered Financial Planners are committed to completing at least 35 hours of Continuing Professional Development work each year to ensure their knowledge is 100% up to date on the topics they are advising on.

What does this mean for you?

It means that when you are dealing with one of IFP’s excellent advisers you are dealing with an individual who has gone above and beyond to obtain the highest level of accreditation available in our industry. They are there to provide a first-rate service and ensure you have a financial plan developed by a true expert in their field.
